Looking for a family-friendly way to celebrate Mardi Gras in Baton Rouge? The Friends of the Capitol Park Museum invite you to our annual Spanish Town Parade Party, the best seat in town for one of the city’s most iconic and beloved parades.
Guests enjoy exclusive front-row street viewing, access to clean indoor restrooms, delicious food and drink options, and a cash bar for those wanting festive cocktails. The celebration also features king cakes, a lively Kid’s Zone, and face painting for children and families.
New last year, we introduced a 21+ VIP Area, offering an elevated experience for guests wanting a little extra flair during the festivities. In 2026, we are continuing that tradition - but more elevated!

All proceeds support the Friends of the Capitol Park Museum, helping fund educational programming, public events, volunteer initiatives, financial support, and cultural resources that keep Louisiana’s history vibrant and accessible. This event serves as our largest annual fundraiser!

Now in its 12th year, our award-winning Spanish Town Parade Party offers an unmatched Mardi Gras experience with prime viewing of the very start of the parade, giving guests the best sightlines, the earliest throws, and all the excitement as the floats roll out.
Families will love the children’s activities, crafts, and face painting, along with interactive games and photo opportunities throughout the event. Guests can enjoy an open buffet featuring local flavors and a cash bar, while those looking for an elevated experience can access our VIP 21+ lounge, complete with an open bar and reserved atmosphere. The event also features a large raffle selection generously donated by Baton Rouge and Louisiana businesses, offering unique prizes that celebrate our community.
